About Me From the age of 12 I have had a keen interest in developing my ability and continuously improving my understanding of a variety of topics. I involved myself in a wide range of extra curricular activities and every year since the age of 6 I have represented some sort of sports team, and in the later years often as captain. Academically I gained the most GCSE awards for my school with a total equivalent of 13.5 grades A-C. I represented my school in a variety of competitions, as well as becoming a spokesperson for my form, my year, my school and the sports department of our recently appointed sport specialist school. Through this, I was actively involved in the developments during my time there. Inspired by business at the age of 15, I noticed an opportunitiy within the e-commerce market. Despite no hands on knowledge or experience in server management, I found the time during my studies to teach myself about the industry resulting in a successful business called Synitex. Operating for 3 years, I outsourced employment contracts, and served a client base of over 200 people. To do this successfully, I marketed myself online, as well as communicating with the more technologically unaware people locally in my community. I gained a contract with a local school in which I gave server space for their students to be taught web design. Something that was a fairly new project to them as a whole. With my GCSE grades and my business running strongly, I decided the natural step from here was to go through further education in Business & ICT. As well as this I wanted to continue my passion for languages and improve my Spanish speaking skills; something I had been learning since the age of 11. Therefore I enrolled at my sport colleges sixth form and passed with three A-C grades. I was the first pupil of my school to obtain a grade A at A level ICT, despite all other students getting grade C or below. This can be attributed to my desire to succeed, and my natural enthusiasm for business and technology. While profits continued for my e-commerce venture, I noticed a more volatile competetive market and ISP's started to offer a similar service free of charge with user subscription. As a smaller company, with a unique selling point in in terms of service and support, I felt that soon prices would be undercut considerably to to compete with the big, blue chip organisations. At this point, I decided to close my organisation and put the project on hold until after university, something that meant I could re-assess the market nearer the time. To close the business, I researched methods on how to go about it effectively and managed to sell my clients to another business, generating some more finance that would eventually go to help support my studies at university. To continue my Business & ICT development I decided to enroll at Sheffield Hallam University. The main purpose of this would be to improve by moving away from home, as well as going to a university that offers students the opportunity to go away and work in the industry for a year prior to graduation. However, this opportunity changed in 2009, in which despite being offered a role as commerical assistant in a major department stores London headquarters, I decided to turn down this offer for a more ambitious opportunity that came available. Applying for a greecard for the USA. Now, at the age of 21, I am now enrolled on my final year of university. After averaging a first over the first two years, I am hoping that I maintain my performance and continue this passion for my chosen career route.
